Description:

The Vice President, Digital Marketing, will lead all marketing efforts in support of mtv.com, MTV’s digital properties and MTV’s Social, SEM and SEO initiatives, including emerging media platforms and partnerships.  The incumbent will be key point person on all digital marketing initiatives and MTV’s go-to digital strategist.

The VP will develop and implement strategic programming plans to support prioritized digital initiatives across multiple platforms (online, digital music, mobile), resulting in increased traffic and content consumption, audience growth/acquisition and heightened franchise and mtv.com digital brand awareness.

The role will liase with MTV Consumer Marketing and MTV Digital to develop and implement strategic promotional plans to support both digital initiatives and linear growth, resulting in online traffic and video streams, audience engagement and the strategic rollout and measurement of video content.  The role will be the lead on all MTV digital marketing strategies and the key point person driving strategy and implementation amongst marketing, communications, show production and mobile groups.

The role will oversee, but is not limited to, SEM media buying, marketing and content syndication partnerships, database newsletter subscription and creative, and retention management.

The position reports to the EVP, Marketing, and GM, Digital Media, MTV Music Group with a dotted line into the VP, Consumer Marketing.

Responsibilities:

• Work with site heads and research to drive traffic and build franchise/event awareness through externally focused efforts.

• Lead/execute digital content rollout strategies for linear and digital properties.

• Partner with internal departments (marketing, programming, production, press, research and program enterprises) to execute effective online strategies.

• Identify viral, digital word-of-mouth marketing opportunities with goal of driving traffic and creating brand awareness for MTV and its programming.

• Optimize internal marketing efforts to drive traffic, build franchise/show awareness and paid digital efforts including site promotion, online marketing messages, integration with linear channels, on-site retention and e-mail management.

• Execute the marketing strategy around social media, in partnership with the editorial and production teams.

• Develop and manage against digital marketing budgets.

• Manage MTV’s internal and corporate digital promotional inventory.

Qualifications:

10+ years of digital marketing experience in marketing/ad agency or within entertainment and media

• Experience in managing and mentoring a staff

• Proven successful track record in strong CRM

• Innovator with a strong strategic and operational experience and perspective

• Ability to manage a team and to lead cross-company efforts

• Expert time-management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills

• Solution-oriented approach and creative thinking are required

• Flexibility to work in a highly creative and multi-faceted company

• Demonstrated strong understanding of the MTV brand, content as well as popular culture and how it relates to the business

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and negotiating skills

• Experience in managing and mentoring a staff

• Bachelorʼs degree or applicable progressive experience in TV digital marketing

• Strong business ethics
