Position: Communications Manager

Craft, manage and implement communications and media relations press strategies for MTV and its properties.
Responsible for coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, each with unique and individual press strategies crossing different types of media.
Externally, work daily with a broad range of press outlets covering television, music, entertainment, trade and digital media.
Internally, work closely with senior communications staff, as well as executives, primarily from programming and production, but also crossing into online, mobile, consumer products, marketing, ad sales, etc to compose press announcements, internal communications, press strategies and presentations.
Position reports into Vice President Communications.
Minimum 4+ years PR experience in corporate communications, public relations and/or media relations.
Excellent knowledge of media relations, how to create and implement strategic communication plans and partnerships, strategic counseling and media training.
Must have ability to switch gears, handle multiple projects at the same time and multi-task.
Must have strong experience with television, with knowledge and experience of how digital media is intersecting with the television screen.
Must have strong experience working with television, music, trade and consumer media.
Excellent writing skills and oral communicator.
Must have a proven track record as a versatile PR professional with strong relationships with the media, and easily able to build new contacts.
Strong understanding of media trends and programming developments within the entertainment industry.
Strong understanding of the MTV brand as well as competitive brands in both television as well as music and emerging digital intersections with television.
Strong business and personal ethics.
