8 Mile’s star, Marshall Mathers or better known as Eminem is making a come back in the big screen not as a rapper but rather as a boxer who rises to the top of the welterweight ranks only to lose it all tragically. The upcoming movie is entitled “Southpaw” which is written by Sons of Anarchy and produced by Kurt Sutter.

The movie will be fueled by the struggles that inform Eminem’s music and mirror his life as he will play a fast-rising welterweight boxer who fights his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy.

Kurt Sutter thought Eminem best fits to star in the movie since he shared so much of his personal struggle in his raw and very honest album, and that he is very interested in the boxing genre because his own life has been a brawl. Sutter admits that “Southpaw” is a continuation of the “8 Mile” story but it does a metaphorical narrative of his second chapter.

“I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty, which is to boxing what a White rapper is to hip hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right handed boxer”, Sutter concluded.
